Are you ready? Summit Keynote Speaker Jeanne Meister Tells All!

Well, we’re ready! We can’t wait to hear Jeanne Meister speak at our TNS-JWT Summit in NYC next week!

Listening to Jeanne Meister, co-author of her book, “The 20/20 Workplace: Are You Ready?” on YouTube is very insightful and exciting. Jeanne discusses trends in the workplace, and in particular, she predicts that by the year 2020 there will be 5 different generations working together. Technology will weave in and out of our working and private lives even above and beyond what we are seeing now. It may seem likely this would happen reflecting on the past 30 years, but Jeanne has an even greater insight as to how we can better prepare for it.

Jeanne is highly recognized for her consultation work and keynote speaking at business conferences, corporate university meetings and industry symposia worldwide. In her book, she and her co-author, Karie Willyerd, discuss increased productivity via internal corporate social networks where the business benefits are increased collaboration, increased productivity, and increased speed of innovation. In order to get there, employers must find ways to motivate, communicate and develop their employees of all generations.

Ms. Meister warns that the workplace is undergoing a vast transformation and human resource officers will need to learn the power of social media. Younger generations prefer to use social media, called “hyper-connectivity” as a way to communicate. Interestingly, there will be an increase in reverse mentoring with the generation of millennials (born 1977 to 1997) mentoring individuals born before 1977. Today they often mentor senior executives on the power of social media. Group mentoring using online technologies rather than face to face will be commonplace in most workplaces. Even now, some corporations are developing workshops with the various generations so they can discuss the different work styles and how they communicate in order to form more highly productive teams.
